Troy- Warren K. Abele, 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Samaritan Hospital in the company of his devoted wife of more than 23 years, Pamela Newcombe Abele. His untimely death occurred after fiercely battling Parkinson's Disease for many years.
Born on September 15, 1942, in Albany, NY to Thelma (Miller) and Kenneth Abele, Warren was the older brother to Rodney Abele (Sharon). Warren attended Camp Agawam in Maine as a boy, and graduated from the Milne High School in 1960. In 1964, he earned a degree in engineering at RPI.
He was a loving parent and role model to daughter Susan Abele Kelley, sons Peter Abele, James Hobbs (Jessica) and the late William Hobbs (Pamela Gamble). He is survived by 4 grandchildren, Charlotte Marie, Daphne Eugenie, Sidney Elena and Sebastian James Santiago Hobbs, 3 nephews, Matthew and Jeff Abele (Christine) and Scott Newcombe, 3 nieces, Janice Cohen (Eric), Sara Newcombe and Cate Collier (Charles), an aunt, Norma Abele, as well as former wife of 20 years, Cynthia Abele, mother to Susan and Peter.
Warren exemplified a "work hard, play hard" spirit. He will be remembered for his commitments to integrity and shared family experiences involving ice skating, travel, swimming, fishing, roller coasters, tennis, skiing, hiking, bicycling and anything edible. He worked for Norton Company and the Hospital Association of New York State before joining Abele Tractor and Equipment in 1972 and retiring in 2007. Throughout Warren's adult life he regularly donated blood at the Red Cross. He also enjoyed property management, working with tenants in Albany, Schenectady, Voorheesville and Troy. In retirement, he was a conscientious neighbor, involved with many improvements to his community surrounding Washington Park in Troy.
