COLONIE – Warren H. Heitzman, 83, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2012 at the Avenue Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Schenectady. A lifetime resident of Colonie, he was the son of the late Fred and Ida Heitzman.
Warren was educated in the Albany school system. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from 1951 to 1955. Warren worked for Darrell Hall Overhead Doors for many years and was a proud carpenter who helped build the South Mall. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, bowling and finding treasures at garage sales.
Warren is survived by his wife of 47 years, Irene M. Heitzman; children Alan E. Heitzman of Ravena and Christine Kennedy of Albany; siblings Gloria Cichon and Raymond Heitzman; grandchildren Kathleen, Kimberly, Jason, Michelle, Erik, Heidi, Rebecca, Rocco, Bruno and Dominic; eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
At the family's request, there will be no funeral services. Memorial contributions may be made in Warren's name to the Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.
