Schenectady - Wayne E. Franklin, 83, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Wayne is the son of the late Raymond L. and Loretta Franklin, brother of the late Glen Franklin and is survived by his brother Raymond J. Franklin (Bette), his wife Helen I. Franklin, and their children John Wayne, Clay (Sue), Felicia, and Holly, as well as his grandchildren Brandy, Kiley (Ambur), Jason (Kristina) Eli (Chanon), Joseph, Michael, Lucky, Sebastian, and his departed grandson Christian, along with six great grandchildren all who love and will miss him beyond measure.
Wayne's diverse professional background included: stock-car driver/builder, tree surgeon, truck driver and for many years a machinist/welder for his families business Tri-City Metal Arts Co. He was known for his quick wit, outrageous sense of humor, quoting his favorite sitcoms/movies, his love of comedy and his outspokenness. His passions included: automobiles and their repair, racing, professional boxing, and his avid interest in music. He took great pleasure in being a source of support, joy, and entertainment for his family. Wayne was loved by all who knew him.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. A funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. with interment following at Memory Gardens Cemetery located at 983 Watervliet Shaker Road, Albany, NY.
