Colonie-Wayne L. Jones, 83, passed away peacefully at his home on June 13, 2018. Born on July 28, 1934 in Schenectady, NY he was the son of the late Lynn and Gertrude (Hastings) Jones. Wayne served his country honorably and faithfully in the United States Army. He worked as a truck driver for Consolidated Freightways in Albany for many years and has been retired for over 25 years. In his younger years, Wayne was an avid fisherman and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. Wayne enjoyed traveling with his wife Janet, especially their trips to Hawaii and Alaska. Wayne was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years, Janet. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters: Dawn Agnew and Doreen Ryan; his grandchildren: Jill Agnew, Megan (Ted) DeConno and Sean Ryan; his sister-in-law Ruth (Dave Trudeau) Moroskey; he is also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his brother Bruce Jones.
Visitation will be from 10 am to 12 pm on Monday, June 18 at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery Chapel, 303 Sand Creek Road, Colonie, NY 12205. A service will immediately follow at 12 pm at the Chapel. Interment with military honors will be at St. John's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Wayne's name to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, attn: Development Dept., 3 Oakland Ave, Menands, NY 12204.
