Wayne W. DePerna, 45, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 31, 2010 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Wayne was born in Albany to the late Michael and Catherine DePerna. Wayne graduated from Albany High and continued onto Schenectady County Community College with a degree in Culinary Arts. He was an award winning chef, with a passion for cooking, working in many area restaurants. He loved spending time with his family and friends, golfing, fishing and going to Dave Matthews Band concerts. In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Francis DePerna.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 27 years, Evelyn; his children, Madison, Bryce and Nicholas; he is the brother of; Michael (Misty), Debbie (James) Amanatides, Patricia Pickering, Diana (Stephen) Simard. He is also survived by his beloved niece, Christina, with whom he shared a birthday, Sergio Estella and many other nieces and nephews. He had a large number of family and friends who loved him dearly.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie then to St. Vincent de Paul's Church, 900 Madison Ave., Albany, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow the Mass at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Guilderland. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a trust fund for his children at Trustco Bank, Colonie.
