CLIFTON PARK – Wilfred St. Onge, 86, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Wilfred was born on April 7, 1925 in Cohoes and was the son of the late Wilfred and Celina St. Onge. He proudly served in the US Coast Guard during WWII from 1943 to 1946, attaining the rank of Fireman First Class. He worked as a window manufacturer and installer for Hoffman Building Material in Troy for over 25 years, then went to Hollywood, FL where he worked for Rolladin for three years. He enjoyed woodworking and was a Scout Master with Troop 11 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lansingburgh. He was a member of the American Legion Post 731 in Schaghticoke and the VFW Post 1938 in Valley Falls.
Wilfred is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mildred St. Onge; his devoted sons, Allan (Kathy) St. Onge, Wilfred (Brenda) St. Onge Jr., and Richie (Amy) St. Onge; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Bonnie Lee Sysol who passed away on March 15, 2011; and his siblings, Lillian St. Onge, Frank St. Onge, Eva Collum, and Evelyn Benac.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Community Hospice of Saratoga, especially Pat, Donna, and Lori for all their care and compassion.
Funeral services will be held Saturday evening at 6 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family at the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence St., Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 in memory of Wilfred St. Onge.
