Willard Snyder

ALBANY-Willard Snyder, 91, of Albany passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Stratton VA Medical Center. Mr. Snyder was born in Scranton, PA, the son of the late Nicholas and Gertrude Snyder and has resided in Albany for the past 57 years. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Mr. Snyder was employed by the US Postal Service. He was a communicant of St. Clare's Church where he was an usher for over 50 years. He was also a member of the Sheeley Palmer VFW Post in Colonie. Mr. Snyder was an avid golfer and president of the golf league. Mr. Snyder was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Mr. Snyder is the beloved father of Willard (Susan) Snyder, Jr., of Goshen, James Snyder of Colonie and Paul (Patricia) Snyder of Galway. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, eleven nieces and nephews, his sister Marion Snyder of Scranton, PA and his wonderful neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Duff, Mr. and Mrs. Burrell, Mr. and Mrs. Harris, and Mr. and Mrs. Yip.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Snyder was predeceased by his wife, Louise Snyder on December 30, 2005.
The Snyder family wishes to thank the Doctors and Nurses at the VAMC. Especially the Dialysis Unit of Dr. Matthew and Dr. Phelps and nurses, Christina, Donna, Judy, Roberta, Jim, John and Terrance.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday, February 3, 2013 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, February 4, 2013 at St. Clare's Church, 1947 Central Ave. Colonie.
Interment will be at Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association in memory of Mr. Snyder.
