Willard H. Stearns Sr. (Bill), 93, of Schenectady, passed away on April 10, 2022 at St. Peter's Hospital.
He was born in Schenectady on March 1, 1929 to the late Willard and Lillian Stearns.
He is predeceased by his brother Cheri Stearns & his son in law Edward Purdy III (Buck)
Willard enlisted in the Army at the age of 17 and served 2 years in Alaska during WWII. He worked for the US Post Office for 37 years, retiring in 1987. He worked 8 years as a security guard at St. Clares Hospital.
He worked many other jobs, his last one delivering flowers for Randolph Florist. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed the family's annual vacation to Wildwood, NJ & watching the NY Yankee games.
Willard is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Marion Zautner, children Christine Stomski of Malta, Jay (Terri) Stearns of Edinburg, Colleen Purdy of Wildwood and Tim Stearns & Bill Donovan of Baltimore. grandchildren Daina (Greg) Sisk, Rick Jr (Kaitlin) Rossi, Justin Stearns, Casey Stearns (Shannon Roberts) and Lindsey Kelly and great grandchildren Ricky III, Piper, Phoenix, Ethan, Olivia, James, Tristan and Rosie.
Please join us for a service in his honor Friday April 22nd at 11:30am at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
