COLONIE – William A. "Willie" Banach, 70, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Schenectady, he was the son of the late William and Hedwig Banach. Bill had lived in Colonie for over twenty years. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving his country from 1960 through 1963.
Bill worked for General Electric Company and retired in 2002. He worked out daily lifting weights, running and exercising. He enjoyed watching movies, spending time at the computer and traveling, especially to the ocean. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
Bill is the beloved husband of Judy (Loveland) Banach. He is the devoted father of Kelly Banach of Victoria, TX and stepfather of Jason Loveland of Elkton, MD and Adam Loveland of Clifton Park, NY. Bill is the cherished grandfather of Emma and Jake Loveland. Also surviving are his brothers, Robert Banach of Fuquay Varina, NC and Ted Banach of Colonie, NY. Also surviving is one niece, two nephews and other family and close friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Ronald Banach.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 – south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Devereux Texas Treatment Network, 120 David Wade Drive, Victoria, TX 77902-2666 in memory of William A. Banach.
