William C. Powell Jr., 56, died peacefully on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy.
William was born in Troy, the son of the late William and Margaret Powell. He worked in automotive parts for many years, most recently at DeNooyer Chevrolet and was the vice president of the Capital District Chevrolet Club.
William was the devoted husband of 32 years to Brenda (Boyce) Powell, loving father to Christopher Powell, beloved brother of Donna Williams, Michael Sr. (Linda) Powell, Joseph (Debra) House and the late Sharon Powell. He was the uncle of Jeffrey Williams and Michael Powell Jr. and a long-time friend to Gary Fox and Morgan Parker.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to William's employer and friends at DeNooyer Chevrolet in Albany and to Hospice, the staff of St. Mary's Hospital, and the staff of New York Oncology Hematology in Latham, for their comforting support during his illness.
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. Friends and family may gather at the south-gate entrance to the cemetery on Rt. 378 (Menands Rd.) at 9:45 a.m. A memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Newtonville United Methodist Church. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for the services and luncheon immediately following.
