ALBANY-William D. Price died on February 6, 2014 after a brief illness at St. Peter's Hospice Inn. He was born to Carolyn Grumbly and Elwood Dudley Price on November 11, 1929. William was a Post WWII veteran of the US Navy. He was employed as a lineman for most of his 36 years at the New York Telephone Company and has enjoyed retirement since 1989. He and his wife, Ruth, built a home in Sacandaga and remained there for eleven years until they returned to Albany to be closer to their family.
He was quick to lend a hand to anyone in need of his Mr. Fix it Skills. William also enjoyed ballroom dancing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling and all outdoor activities. He was a member of the Colonie Elks #2192; past member of both the Albany and Amsterdam Chapters. Member and former Commander of the Sacandaga Power Squadron; he joined the squadron because of his love of boating and his fully restored 1936 Chris Craft. He was a member of "The Telephone Pioneers of America" and the CWA retirees club.
William was predeceased by his first wife of twenty years, Maureen Flinn. William leaves behind his wife of 31 years, Ruth O. Price, Albany, NY as well as his 4 children; Daniel Price, Delmar, NY, Susan Gomes, Albany, NY, William Price, Selkirk, NY, Carolyn Price-Valenti, Wellington, Fl. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The family is most grateful to the fine staff at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital.
Calling hours will be held from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday, February 10, 2014 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM.
Interment will be at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
