DELMAR – William D. "Dave" Rathbun, 69, passed away at his home on Monday, June 27, 2011, surrounded by his loving family after a long illness. He was born in Syracuse and lived in the Albany area for most of his life. Mr. Rathbun served his country in the United States Army. He was a truck driver for J. A. Carmen most of his life and more recently, after his retirement, worked for Albany Dodge. Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golf and NASCAR. He was an avid New York Yankees fan. Dave is the beloved husband of Katherine A. Rathbun. He is the devoted father of William D. (Paula) Rathbun Jr. and Kimberly (Anthony) Nantista. He is the stepfather of Michael (Maryanne), Brenda (Bob), Kenneth (Kathi), Edward (Nanette) and Jeffrey Stannard. He is the cherished grandfather of William Clark. Also surviving is his dear friend, Mary Barkman and several nieces and nephews. Dave was predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and Robert Rathbun and his sister, Elizabeth Govel.
Funeral services will be Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 in memory of William D. Rathbun.
