Bill was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy serving his county in the Vietnam war. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and Medal of Good Conduct. During his military service, he proudly served on the USS Constellation, and was also stationed at the Yankee and Dixie based off the coast of Vietnam. Bill later worked at Sterling Drug as a foreman before going to GE, where he became a Hazmat L.T.; he flew all over the United States with his team to stop dangerous and life threatening leaks. He was also an EMT; he lost many but also saved many, including an 8 month old baby. In his free time, Bill enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cracking jokes, playing the harmonica, gardening, traveling, listening to Old Time Radio, and spending time with his "pool buddies" at the YMCA. His greatest joy in life was being the grandfather to Cole and Chad Daniels.
In his own words, "Mark, Scot and Nicole, thanks for being mine, you gave me so much joy. Randi, thank you for loving my son Mark, and Kurt, I thank you for loving Nicole. Sissy, Char-Char, Brenda and Dave, we had a great life together and did all kinds of stuff the young kids of today could never dream of. Finally, Cole and Chad, I love you with all my heart and am so proud of you."
