BALLSTON LAKE – William Dolan, 80, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, June 27, 2014 at his home.
Born in Troy, Bill was the son of the late Andrew and Elsie (Smith) Dolan. He was also predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Gloria Dolan and his sister, Elsie Craig.
Bill served his country proudly in the US Army during the Korean War and was a police officer for the Albany Police Department, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service. He then went on to work for Niagara Mohawk and Siena College.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Irene (Preusse) Dolan; his loving children, Cheryl (Gerard) Decker, Deborah (Vincent) Relihan, Kathleen (David) Pollack, Lori (Edward) Rekemeyer, William (Colleen) Dolan, and Kevin (Tera) Dolan; his sister, Lillian "Molly" (Daniel) Donahue and his brother, Francis "Pat" (late Dorothy) Dolan. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Winnie Musella, nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and many loved nieces and nephews.
All are welcome to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Historic St. Mary's Church on Capitol Hill, Lodge and Pine Streets, Albany. There will be no calling hours.
The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's memory to Community Hospice of Saratoga, 179 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
