Albany – William E. Vandenburg, Sr., 76 passed away Tuesday June 24, 2008 at his home in Colonie. Bill was born May 9, 1932 in Albany and was a lifelong area resident.
He worked for H. R. Liedkie for 25 years and then for the Niskayuna Central School District for another 25 years retiring just over 10 years ago. Bill was an avid wood worker, working on clocks and cabinets in his retirement. His wife, Jennie, predeceased him in 2005.
Bill is survived by his children, Kenneth, Keith (Sue) and Bert Marshall, Patricia (Jim) Lindstead, Elizabeth (Michael) Butler, Karen Vandenburg, William (Kimberly) Vandenburg, Jr., Terry (Randy) Tompkins and Jennie Lockhart, his brother Henry Albert Vandenburg and close family friend Chris Tomlinson. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 12:00 noon at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will held on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00pm and Friday 11:00am to 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Interment will be at Memory's Garden Cemetery.
