NISKAYUNA - William F. Durkin, Sr., 75, passed away on September 4, 2007 at The Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in North Creek, NY, he was the son of the late William H. and Pauline E. Morrsey Durkin. He served in the US Army during the Korean War attaining the rank of Corporal. He was a firefighter for the Albany Fire Department Ladder No. 3, for 15 years before retiring in 1969. He also had worked for the Albany Water Department from 1981 to 1995. He enjoyed gardening, walking and spending time with his family.
William is survived by his loving children, Dennis J. Durkin, Sr., Pauline E. (Chuck) Brady all of Niskayuna, William F. (Kenneth E. Neissen) Durkin, Jr. of Raleigh, NC and Kelly (Bob) Marshall of Colonie; his four cherished grandchildren, Dennis J. Durkin, Jr., Charles W. Brady and Robert S. and Matthew Marshall; and his brother-in-law, Harold E. Payne. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Payne Durkin.
A graveside committal service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday (today) at Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205. To leave a special message for the family online, visit www.NewcomerFamily.com
