William "Bill" Engelhardt, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Albany Memorial hospital surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Albany to the late William and Mildred (Carty) Engelhardt. Bill proudly served in the United States Army after WWII. Bill retired from the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. in Albany. with over 40 years of service as a mechanic/foreman.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of over 57 years, Lucy (Robinson) Engelhardt; his beloved children, William (Carol) Engelhardt and Deborah (Robert) Neidermire. He was the cherished grandfather of Sarah (Matthew) Gregory, Laura, Lisa, Steven, Jill, Kimberly and Daniel. He was also survived by his brother, Robert and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the entire staff at NYOH and to Dr. Wu and Dr. Cuenca, who has been more than a doctor but a good friend.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 9:30 am at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 or to the Community Hospice of Albany County 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 in Bill's memory.
