William F. Herbst

COLONIE – William F. Herbst, 49, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 25, 2012 after a courageous battle. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Edward B. Herbst, Sr. and Irene Herbst and stepson of the late Joseph J. Gruber. Bill was a manager and longtime mechanic for Cole Muffler and a New York State certified inspector. He was an avid Jeff Gordon fan and animal lover, who especially loved his faithful canine companion, Angel.

Bill is the beloved husband of twenty-six years to Denise Herbst. He is the cherished brother of Elizabeth M. (Joseph) Vandenburg, John G. (Helen) Herbst, Karl D. Herbst, Sr., Joseph P. (Wendy) Herbst, James V. (Beth) Herbst, Sr., Leo T. (Lori) Herbst, Sr., and the late Edward B. Herbst, Sr. Also surviving is his godson and nephew, Jeffrey Vandenburg as well as several loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.


Funeral services will be Friday at 10:00 a.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie. Memorial contributions may be made to Out of the Pits Rescue, P.O.
