COLONIE, NY – William F. "Chip" Ward, Jr., 60, of Colonie, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2008 at Albany Medical Center Hospital, after a long illness. Born in Wilmington, DE he is the beloved son of William F. Ward, Sr. and the late Lillian Black Ward. Chip was a graduate of Syracuse University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1969 through 1971. Chip retired from the New York State Office of Children and family services in 2003. He was an enthusiastic Dallas Cowboys fan and an avid golfer. In addition to his father, he is the devoted father of Jessica L. Ward and her husband, Heath Jaquish of Colonie and Jordan R. Ward of Albany. He is the cherished grandfather of Riley Newcomb and loving brother of Betty Jean "BJ" Ward and her husband, Gordon Hunt of California.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Neuroscience Institute Research Center, c/o Albany Medical Center Hospital, 43 New Scotland Ave., Albany, NY 12208 in memory of Chip Ward.
