Click here to view William's ServiceWilliam A. "Skinny" Heffern, 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Samaritan Hospital with his loving family by his side.
William was the son of the late Edward Heffern and Elizabeth (McGlynn) Heffern.
He was the devoted husband of over 61 years to Marie Michele (Fargnoli) Heffern.
William was a member of the Vagabond Club in Green Island for many years, he also enjoyed spending many hours at the Lansingburgh Veterans Club helping with many events.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially playing cards with them every Friday night. He also loved going to Saratoga Race Track with his friends and playing the horses.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Miss Mary Fargnoli "NANA", sister-in-law, Palma Thompson (Fargnoli) and his grandson Michael Lazzaro.
William is survived by his wife, Marie Heffern, his children, Peter (Beth) Heffern, John (Stacey Lazzaro) Heffern, Michele (Shelly) Heffern, William (Karrie Diacetis) Heffern, Jr. his grandchildren, Peter (Morgan McKeever) Heffern, Melissa (Eric Gordon) Heffern, Cayla (Jesse) Sullivan, Devin Lazzaro, Emma Heffern, Brody Heffern, Grayson Heffern, Dominick Heffern, Isabella Heffern and Teigin LeGault, his grand daughter-in-law, Loren Lazzaro, his great grandchildren, Pike Lazzaro and Presley Lazzaro, his siblings, Edward (Judy) Heffern, T. J. (Peg) Heffern, Jack (Pat) Heffern. His In-laws, Thomas & Angela (Fargnoli) Weisenforth and several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet, NY on Tuesday February 27, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday February 28, 2024 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Internment will follow the service at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet, NY.
