William J. Reedy, Jr., 69, passed away Friday, May 3, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Albany on October 4, 1943, son of the late William J. Reedy, Sr. and Elizabeth (Gillespie) Reedy, Bill was raised and educated in Albany where he attended St. James School and was a graduate of Cardinal McCloskey High School. Bill retired from Orange Ford as a Sales/Service Manager after 25 years of service. Bill was a sports enthusiast, evidenced by his many years of involvement with Colonie Little League and Colonie Pop Warner Football as a manager, coach and league officer. He was a longtime season ticket holder of the Albany River Rats (Devils) hockey team, as well as a devoted Green Bay Packers and New York Yankee fan. Bill's passion was camping with friends at the Sacandaga Campground, where he enjoyed boating and golfing at the Bend of the River Golf Course.
Bill was survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Patricia (DiScipio) Reedy and his wonderful sons Michael (Darlene) and Scott (Laurie). He was the cherished grandfather of Taylor, Brett, Korey, Kayla, Karlie, Jessica and Nicole. Bill also leaves behind his brother John Reedy (Ruth), his sister Anne Chase (Allen) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, William was predeceased by his brother Patrick Reedy and his Aunt Jane Gillespie. Bill was a beloved husband, brother, father and grandfather. He had many lifelong friendships and will be sadly missed by all that knew him.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the doctors and nurses at NYOH and a special Thank You to all of their friends, for their love and continued support over the past few years.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie.
A Mass of Catholic Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Church, Central Ave. Albany.
Interment will be at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital in memory of William.
