LOUDONVILLE – William J. Ziegler Sr., 70, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Albany Memorial Hospital in Albany, surrounded by his loving family.
William was born on February 12, 1943 in Rensselaer and was the son of the late Thurlow and Eleanor (Christie) Ziegler. He served in the US Army. He was a mechanic for over 30 years for Niagara Mohawk and enjoyed being a member of their 25 Year Club. He also enjoyed the Racino, trips with his wife to their home in Myrtle Beach, but most especially spending time with his loving family.
William is the husband of 39 years to the late Joanne H. (McAuliffe) Ziegler; she passed away on June 18, 2013. He is survived by his loving and devoted children, Joanne (Kent) Taylor, Jennifer (Mike) Connell, and William J. Ziegler Jr. all of Loudonville; his eight loving grandchildren, Jenna, Brandon, Jessica, Emma, Cole, Jack, Christian, and Kaylee; his brothers, Lynn (Mary) Ziegler and Ralph (Carol) Ziegler; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, James and Christine Ziegler.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.
