GUILDERLAND – William James Mooney, 58, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May, 5, 2005 at his home.
William was born on April 12, 1947, in Flushing, NY to Terry and Ed Mooney. A native of Patchogue, Long Island, he received his Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY Binghamton.
William was an insurance broker for over 30 years with his own business, William J. Mooney Insurance in Guilderland. He worked for the past year as a lead generator for Home Depot in Latham.
He was a member of the Guilderland Elks Lodge No. 2480, the Polish American Community Club, and the United States Selective Service System.
In addition to his parents of Altamont, William is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Robin Mooney of Guilderland; his daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and RJ Tamayo of Scotia; and daughter, Jennifer Mooney of Worcester, MA; his sister and brother-in-law, Kathie and Jim Robertson of Guilderland; his precious grandson, Liam James Tamayo of Scotia; his beloved puppy, Bridget, and 10 nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Edwin G. Mooney Jr. Bill will be especially remembered for his great sense of humor and love of family.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday morning at 9:00 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Madeleine Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Road, Schenectady, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00. Interment at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna. Calling hours will be on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, the American Diabetes Association, or to the American Heart Association in memory of William James Mooney.
