COLONIE – William John Ginter, 89, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Albany Memorial Hospital.
William was born on August 21, 1918 in Albany and was the son of the late William and Matilda (Messer) Ginter. He served in the US Army during WWII. He worked as an iron worker with Local 12 in Albany for 34 years, before retiring in 1981. He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, tinkering, and traveling with family. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Mountaineer Lodge #321.
William is survived by his children, John (Pam Chafin) Ginter of Albany, June (Don) Pisano of East Islip, LI, NY, May (Dean) Ginter Silver of Albany, Dorothy Ginter of Albany and Millie Ginter of Troy; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred (Card) Ginter; his children, William, Shirley, Robert, Fred and William Ginter; his sisters, Elizabeth Folmsbee and Sadie Bagley and his brother, George Bradwell.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Interment will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
