William "Bill" Hamel, 76, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2014 at Ellis Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Bill was born June 8, 1937, in Cohoes, NY to the late Joseph and Blanche Hamel.
Bill graduated from Catholic High School and later attended Hudson Valley Community College. After graduation he proudly served with the United States Army, then began working as a Tax Examiner for NYS Dept of Taxation and Finance in Albany.
Bill coached his three boys in baseball for over 12 years, he also enjoyed playing Golf, being able to proudly boast about getting a hole in one, he also loved spending time at Saratoga Race Track, and doing yard work and spending time with his family doing activities.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his three siblings; Kenneth, Lillian and Helen.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (VanZandt) Hamel, of 50 years, he is the beloved father of Michael (Janet) Hamel, Mark (Beth) Hamel and Billy (Gretchen) Hamel. He is the adored grandfather of Keri and Alexis and cherished great grandfather of Cailyn, Leigha and Molly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Edwards the Confessor Church, 569 Clifton Park Center Rd., Clifton Park. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the church. Inurnment will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville at 12:30 pm.
