William K. Fisher, 88, of Clifton Park, N.Y. at rest on August 17, 2014. Born in Schenectady, N.Y. the son of William M. Fisher and Elsie K. Fisher, he lived most of his years at Arrow St. in Colonie. A graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and Albany Business College, he was a General Electric Company employee for 38 years, mostly at the Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, retiring in 1986.
An Army veteran of WWII serving in the Vienna Area Command, he was one of the first 10 American officials entering Vienna as U.S. forces took control.
Mr. Fisher was married to Agnes M. McNulty from 1949 until her death in 1993. In addition to Lorana Livingston of Clifton Park, his wife of 18 years, he is survived by his children Ronald Fisher of East Lansing, MI, Susan Vitolins (Uldis) of Wynantskill, NY, and Kenneth Fisher (Evie) of Colonie, NY.
Other survivors include his sister, Elsie Falkenheimer of Albany, NY; grandchildren Michael Fisher (Jennifer) of Shelby Township, MI, Charles Fisher (Chelsea) of Boston, MA, Tamara Adams (Brian) of Troy, NY, Laura Vitolins of Albany, NY, and Alissa Fisher of Colonie; great grandchildren Liam Fisher and Finnegan Adams. Also step children Dean Livingston (Laura) of Colonia, NJ, Kay Klem (Bernie) of Dalton, MA, Gary Livingston (Cathy) of Greenville, SC, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother-in-laws Joseph Falkenheimer and Paul McNulty and sister-in-law Virginia McNulty.
Bill was known as a dedicated home do-it-yourselfer, a master repairman of almost anything, and an enthusiast of road trips (especially to campgrounds in the Adirondacks).
Visitation will be at the Jonesville United Methodist Church in Clifton Park at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20, with service following at Noon and entombment at Memory's Garden, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany or the American Cancer Society.
