William C. Kinsley

September 23, 1941 — October 29, 2018

Latham- William C. Kinsley, 77, passed away Monday, October 29, 2018 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

Born on September 23, 1941, the son of the late William and Marguriete Wolf Kinsley was a lifelong resident of the area. Bill was raised in Delmar and was a 1959 graduate of Bethlehem High School. Bill went on to be awarded the Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Colgate University, Class of 1963. He was active in the Marching Band, the Four Dimensions dance band and also served as an announcer, Program Director, Advertising Director and News Director of WRCU at the Colgate Radio Station. He went on to join the Air Force becoming a Captain from 1964-1969, where he was able to apply his radio skills and reported the weather and news on the 6 o'clock news in Keflavík, Iceland.

It was in Iceland where Bill met the love of his life, Jóna Gréta Gísladottir. Bill was having his vehicle inspected to drive in Iceland when the mechanic suggested he stop at Áskur for a cup of coffee while waiting. It was there that Gréta served him the best meal he'd ever had, and Bill stayed the rest of the day to drive her home. They married in Reykjavík Iceland on August 10th 1968. Together, they shared a loving union of 50 years, and built a family with memories to last beyond a lifetime.

Upon returning to the United States, Bill worked as a Real Estate Broker for various companies in the area, including Schuyler Real Estate, Roberts Real Estate, Coldwell Banker Prime Properties and Keller Williams Realty. Real estate was a perfect fit for Bill. His smile commanded a room and his voice was the sound of comfort. You didn't just find a house with Bill, you most certainly found a home. No matter what Bill did, he brought professionalism, dedication, and passion with him. From voice-overs for advertising to his last success as a proud Real Property Appraiser for the Town of Colonie Assessors Office, Bill showed his children whatever you do, do it with grace and honor. Be passionate, kind, and hardworking. None but himself can be his parallel. There will not be another Bill Kinsley, but his legacy will live on forever as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed by many.

Besides his wife, Gréta, Bill is survived by his children: Margrét Baggetta (James), Mélisa Gravelle(Dennis), Marco Kinsley (Yolanda), and Dr. Melody Kinsley (Nathan); grandchildren, Ashley Zatt (Justin), Chelsea Escobar (Tania), Timothy & Hollie Gravelle, Crystal, Collin, Cassidy & Carter Kinsley, and Saethor Brimmer; great-grandson Jaxon Zatt, and a great-granddaughter Olivia Grace on the way. Bill is also survived by his loving family & friends in Iceland, and the Baggetta, Gravelle, Parella and Brimmer extended families. Bill was predeceased by a grandson, Cameron William Kinsley.
