William J. Knier

ALBANY- William J. Knier, age 84, passed away on July 28, 2024 at the Stratton VA Medical Center.

He was born in Elizabeth, NJ, the son of the late Joseph William and Mabel Olive Knier.

William was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in New Jersey and Seton Hall University. After graduating in 1962, he entered the Army. He then moved to New York and became a Computer Programmer for Farm Family. He started a family and started Knier Home Improvements. He retired working for the Times Union.

He loved animals and nature. He was an avid runner and stamp collector.

William is survived by his children: Edward (Maureen) Knier and Lynn ( Abdelkarim) Hassy; 6 grandchildren: Kasandra, Amina, Amir, Abdelkarim Jr., Yaquobe and Adam; three great grandchildren: Amber Lynn Marie, Rose Mary Lynn and Marianne Kathleen; and one sister, Kathleen Drake.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Monday August 5, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie with a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY at 1:00 p.m.
