Niskayuna- William F. Levandosky, 93, passed away on April 28, 2018 peacefully at his home in Niskayuna. Born on June 29, 1924 in Amsterdam, NY, William was the son of the late Joseph and Teophilia (Denza) Levandosky. William served his country honorably and faithfully during WWII in the US Army. He married his high school sweetheart, Bessie Lyczko after returning from the war. They would have celebrated their 73rd anniversary in May. William was a Deputy Sheriff for Montgomery County until his retirement. William and Bessie would spend winters at their home in Del Ray Beach Florida. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Amsterdam. William enjoyed being outdoors, especially playing golf and fishing at his camp. He was an avid Yankees fan, even naming his precious dog, Jeter.
William was a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was a wonderful and stoic man, who made friends easily and was loved by all who knew him.
William is survived by his loving wife Bessie; his son William R. (Debbie) Levandosky of Milton, VT; his daughter Barbara (Chris Fitzgerald) Levandosky of Clifton Park, NY; his sister Helen Levandosky of Amsterdam, NY. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, his dog, Jeter and his special grandpets: Ruffner, Brady, and Jesse.
In addition to his parents, William was predeceased by his siblings: Sophie Wojick, Stella Kwitakowski, Genevieve La Rowe, Eleanor Spagnola, Ceil Smitka, Virginia Peters, Joseph Levandosky and Edward Levandosky.
William's family wishes to express their gratitude to the home health aides and the staff of Community Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for both Bessie and William on Wednesday, July 18 at 10 am at St. Mary's Church, 156 East Main Street, Amsterdam, New York 12010. Burial with military honors will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Amsterdam.
