William Looney, 77, of Albany passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at St. Peter's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Albany NY and is the beloved son of the late Frank and Harriet Looney. He grew up in Albany and has been a resident of Colonie for the past forty-seven years. Bill was an electrician with IBEW 236/724 for over thirty years, retiring in 2003. He was an avid coin collector, a New York Jets fan and was known for enjoying time outside in his clubhouse. Bill also enjoyed traveling where he's been to places such as Italy, Hawaii and Ireland where he created a lifetime of memories. Bill liked to go fishing and bowling in his spare time and would look forward to camping on Sacandaga Lake. Bill was a proud Veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1968-1970.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife Rose (Oppedisano) Looney. He is the cherished father of Danielle (Mark) Klein and William Looney. He is also survived by his loving grandsons Mark, Michael, Mason, and many nieces and nephews. He is the brother of Maureen (Mike) Haggerty and brother-in-law of Phil (Darlene) Oppedisano. He will also be missed by his two best friends Tony Futia and Joe Bertasso. He is predeceased by sister-in-law, Theresa and Nick Cavaleri.
Bill is a devoted husband, father, grandfather, cousin and friend who was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Special thanks to Dominick Cavaleri, Vini Cavaleri, Bob LaCosta, Frank & Claudia Cavaleri, Tony Cavaleri and Alexa Klein.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bill's family on Thursday, April 18, 2024 from 11:00 am - 1:00pm, with a Funeral Service to start at 1:00pm, at New Comer Home in Colonie. Interment will follow at Our lady of Angels Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill's name to Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (pulmonaryfibrosis.org), American Cancer Society (cancer.org), or Humane Society (mohawkhumane.org).
