William Martinez

William Martinez, 86, of Albany, NY departed this earth on Saturday, March 26th, 2016 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY. A resident of Albany for 17 years, he was born in Colombia, South America, son of the late Moses Martinez and Ana Ulloa. He attended Universidad de Los Andes in Bogota, Colombia and obtained an Associate of Science degree in Accounting. He was a gifted shoe designer and business owner. Upon emigrating to the United States in 1969, he was employed as a shoe designer with L. J. Simone and Steve Madden in New York City. He proudly earned his United States' citizenship in 1988. Married for 57 years to his faithful wife and partner, Dolfenia Martinez, they shared many happy memories together. He enjoyed singing, dancing and recording music with his wife. He enjoyed taking pictures, loved playing soccer with his children and had a great sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Dolfenia Martinez; his daughter, Yolanda (Charles) Joseph; his son Guillermo (Sandra Paolasso) Martinez; his daughter, Lucy Martinez; his son, Norberto Martinez; his son Cesar (Rachel) Martinez; his eight grandchildren, Zandra Soler, Francisco (Eleni) Soler, Brandon Martinez, Alexander Martinez, Maya Martinez, Liam Martinez, Mason Martinez and Madison Martinez; one greatgrandchild, Christopher Soler.
Calling hours will be Thursday, March 31, 2016 from 5 - 6:30PM at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY. Services will follow at 6:30PM. Services will be performed by Pastor Larry Ontiveros.
