SCHENECTADY - William (Billy) Matthews, Jr., 50, of Schenectady passed away suddenly on Friday, September 21, 2012, at Ellis Hospital.
Born in Beacon, NY on August 14, 1962, he was the son of the late William and Delores Marie Matthews He was a 19-year resident of Schenectady and a 16-year resident of Poughkeepsie, NY.
William dedicated his services to Shirts Galore and Key's World for the last 10-years and served in the United States Army. William was loved by many; he was a man of integrity and at times tenacious.
In addition to his parents he is predeceased by: Maternal Grandparents, James and Alice Lloyd, Maternal Aunts: Bernice K. Williams, Beverly J. Jones, Sister: Betty A. Pinnock and Nephew: Symeek Reed.
Survivors include: Sons William Matthews, III, of Louisiana, Reshoun Matthews, of Schenectady, NY , Dae'shon Futrell, of Troy, NY and Step-son Derek L Christie, Brother James Lloyd II and Wife Darlene of Sandy Springs, GA, Sister Donna M. Walker and Husband Theodore of Schenectady and ex-wife and life-long partner Julie A. Christie; Grand-daughter Yamani Matthews of Las Vegas, NV and Denina A. Mose, of Mamou, LA and Step Grand-children Yazuri I. Hudson of Apopka, Fl, Nevaeh B. Christie and Derek L. Christie, II of Killeen, TX; several Nieces, Nephews and great nieces and nephews. A host of dear and loving friends and trustworthy companions Kevin Hawkins, Todd Williamson, Charles Smith.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Memorial services on Thursday evening at 6:00 pm at Higher Ground Worship Center, 801-803 Stanley St. Schenectady, NY 12307.
