William O'Connor

William Joel O'Connor, 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb 26, 2013, with his family by his side. He was born in Troy, to the late John and Clara O'Connor. Joel proudly served with the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany. After the service Joel worked for over 50 years as a pressman for Clarity Publishing, the Times Union and the Troy Record, until his retirement. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his brothers John, Gerald and James O'Connor.

Joel is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Shirley (Wright) O'Connor; his children Michael (Mary Ellen) O'Connor, Kelly (Raymond) Grady, Dr. Karen (William) Peper, Mark (Johanna) O'Connor, Matthew O'Connor and Kristi Picard. He is the cherished grandfather of Michael Jr. and Emily O'Connor; Nicole and Raymond III Grady; Michelle Hartwell; Kaitlyn Peper; Alexandra and Matthew Picard. He is the adored great grandfather of Seri Hartwell; he is the brother of Jenny (Joe) Cillis, Jackie Hickey and Noel O'Connor, he is also survived by his canine companion Oscar and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at St. Clare's Church at 9:30am,Central Ave., Colonie. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2 to 5pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd, Colonie. Interment will follow the Mass at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National VA Cemetery.
