William Lester Pounds Jr. was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, February 18, 2019.
Jr was educated in Albany, NY and he served in the United States Army for eight years. He worked at the US Army Watervliet Arsenal for years, and Northeastern Orthopedics until 2006 when he retired because of his illness. Jr was a member of the VFW 8444, the Mason 438, Veterans of Lansingburgh, and a faithful member of Mount Olive Southern Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Willie James Stovell, where he serves on the usher board.
Jr hobbies includes fishing, playing cards, he loves telling jokes and making people laugh. His favorite thing he loves to do is cook for his family and friends, and if you needed a special dish cook, he got you.
Jr is predeceased by Margarey Christine Penny Pounds (Mother), William Pounds Sr (Father), Mary Breeze (Grandmother), Elizabeth Pounds (Grandmother), Williams Pounds III (Son), Gwendolyn Sheldon and Martha Lois Demand-Pounds (Late Wife).
Left to mourn his passing is his faithful and devoted wife Charlene Pounds who has been by her husband side until the very end. Siblings: James Davis, John (Joyce) Pounds -CT, Thaddeus (Ruby) Salmond -NY, James Pounds, Paul (Jennifer) Pounds -AZ, Helana (Grady) Burkett -AZ, Mable (Frank) Pietraniello, Mary Liz Walton, Renea (Marvin) Stubb, Cora (Phil) Britt, Jane Salmond, Shelia Williams, Missy Sheldon Maisonet(Carlos), Eugene Salmond, Lorrie Blount, Sister-in-Law Cynthia (Ben) Rountree, 37 Grandchildren, 15 Great-Grandchildren, and of host of nieces and nephews. Two Uncles: Norman Pounds, Robert Goodwin. Special Friends: Denise Jones (Cousin), Charles Pounds (Cousin), Joyce Mackey, Chester Cunningham, Rudy Gause, Tim Evans,Tamara Stewart and Jeanmaire Rokjer.
Viewing hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a service on Saturday, March 2nd at Mount Olive Southern Missionary Baptist Church, 236 North Pearl Street, Albany, New York 12207. The family will receive guests in a repast at the church listed above.
