William R. Jackson

September 27, 1939 — June 8, 2014

SCHENECTADY-William R. Jackson, 74, passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Baptist Health and Nursing Home, Scotia. He was born in Schenectady, NY the son of the late William B. and Bertha M. Jackson. William received a Master's Degree and taught at Richmondville High School and retired from St. Ann's Institute. He also worked for the NYS Blind and Visually Handicapped for a number of years. William was a communicant of St. Luke's Church, member of Knights of St. John and a past member of the Guilderland Elks. He was an avid reader, golfer and bowler and he enjoyed the beach.
William is survived by his children Michael Jackson (Alida) and Scott Jackson (Carrie); his sisters Arlene Latimer (Bill) and Andrea Valenti (Frank); grandchildren Alexa, Maria and Sophia and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie with a funeral service to immediately follow at 7PM.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady County, 1411 Union Street, Schenectady, NY 12308 in memory of William.
