ALBANY-William J. Richardson, Jr., 83, of Albany passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Albany Medical Center following a long illness. Mr. Richardson was born in Albany, the son of the late William J. Richardson, Sr. and Mary (Dolores) Myers. He was a life resident of the Albany area. Mr. Richardson was a veteran having served in the US Army during WWII and the Korean War. He was employed by Albany Police Dept. and the Albany County Sherriff's Dept. as a deputy. His love was for driving cabs for 40 years part time and he retired from Albany International Airport as a Lieutenant Security Officer.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Katherine Richardson, of Albany; his children, Donna (Brian) Domion, of Oneonta, Kelly Gilliam, of Albany, Kevin Richardson, of Albany, and Dolores (Thomas) Ramundo, of Albany; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; his sisters, Elizabeth Smith, of Albany and Patty Deyoe, of Altamont; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Richardson was predeceased by his son in law, Michael DeSantis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7PM on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie.
Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Park
