Colonie, NY - William A. "Bill" Ruggaber, Jr, 57, passed away unexpectedly on October 13, 2018. The son of the late William A. and Rose (Buckley) Ruggaber, Bill was born on January 4, 1961 in Albany, NY. Growing up in the Village of Colonie, an avid Pop Warner football player and a graduate from South Colonie Central High School; Bill went on to join the UA Local # 7 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union. In the beginning of his career, he and his father ran a union company, Rug's Plumbing and Heating. From there, he was employed by many Union contractors. He was a master of his trade, excelling in his profession. Bill's experience and extensive knowledge was recognized and desired amongst his colleagues; he was a " go to guy". He was employed by Durr Mechanical Construction for 18 years and most recently employed by FPI Mechanical as Superintendent/Project Manager directing large scale mechanical contracts.
He enjoyed his free time taking long rides on his Harley Davidson, boating on Lake George and most importantly spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving and devoted son, brother, father and poppy. His laughter and kind nature will be missed amongst all who knew him, especially his family.
Bill is survived by his children: Anthony (Megan Ackert) Ruggaber, Michael (Robin Rappazzo) Ruggaber and Robyn (Peter) Steckel; his beloved grandchildren: Madison Asmus, Mason Ruggaber, and expected granddaughter Elizabeth Lynn; his sisters: Joy (Frank) Coluccio and Nadene (Todd) Corbett; his former wife and close friend Kristine Ruggaber; his nieces: Terri Epting Miller and Nicole (Calvin) Seda and many cousins and friends.
Visitation will be from 5 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, October 18 at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9 am on Friday, October 19, 2018 at The Church of St. Clare, Colonie. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
