William Samuel Fuller

BEVERWYCK, SLINGERLANDS, NY- William Samuel Fuller born June 2, 1926 to William and Loyda Fuller; beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died on April 19, 2012. He is predeceased by his daughter, the Rev. Heidi Lynn Fuller, his parents, brother and sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marjory T. Fuller; his children, Grant, Tom, Dirck (Lynne); grandchildren, Kate Fuller and Anna Mitchell Bain (Matt); and son-in-law, Stuart J. Mitchell (Martha).
Dr. Fuller graduated from Davenport Iowa Central High School in 1944 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy V-12 program at the University of Wisconsin. In 1950 he graduated from Westminster Choir College, where he traveled extensively as a member of the renowned Westminster Choir. He received his Master of Music Education at North Texas State University in 1951 and his doctorate in education from Indiana University in 1961. Throughout his 39 year career, Dr. Fuller held several executive positions in higher education including Associate Commissioner of Higher Education in New York, Executive Director of the Nebraska Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education, and Director of Higher Education Facilities in Connecticut. In 1987 he was appointed President of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ. He retired to the Berkshires in 1990. In retirement he was elected to the Central Berkshire Regional School Board of Education from 1992-2002. In 1998 he was elected chairman of the Board of Health for the Town of Becket, MA where he served until 2011. Since 1994 Bill was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Stockbridge and the Stockbridge Festival Chorus. He thoroughly enjoyed teaching Boy Scouts, playing golf, camping, and especially being with family and friends at countless celebrations. Throughout his life, he was always involved in the church ministry of music as a singer or as a music director.
A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Stockbridge, Massachusetts at 11:00 AM, June 16th, with a reception following the service.
