Westmere - Seim William R., 92, passed peacefully at Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center on Friday, March 03, 2023. William was born in Albany, N.Y., on April 07, 1930, to the late Robert Frederick William and Marion Alice Flint Seim.
William attended Altamont High School, and then honorably served in the Army and Army Reserves. William was employed at Travelers Insurance Company for 43 years. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed making puzzles. While growing up he was very active in Boy Scouts and earned the Order of the Arrow Award. He later went on to assist the Voorheesville Boy Scout Troop 73 and became a member of the Veteran Scouts Association.
William was also very active in the Altamont High School Alumni Association and attended every Class Reunion until the last one was held. He had a great love of trains, which started with his Lionel Trains Sets. This hobby led him to become a very active member of the Mohawk and Hudson Train Chapter, and the Adirondack Live Steamers.
William was a lifelong and very active member of the McKownville United Methodist Church, and the Westmere Fire Department where he served as the Treasurer for many years.
William is predeceased by Grandson Ryan Healt.
He is survived by his Wife, Charlotte M. Seim. Five Step Children, Donna (Ron) Healt, Bill (Debra) Eggleston III, Richard (Cheryl) Eggleston, Mike (Rose) Eggleston, Guy (Sue Jacobson) Eggleston. 8 Grandchildren, 6 Great-Grandchildren, Sister, Doris L. Neese, and Nephew, James A. Neese.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of William R. Seim to the McKownville United Methodist Church or the Westmere Fire Department.
