ALBANY - William Stanley Williams Jr., 89, passed away on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Albany Medical Center.
Stanley is survived by his brother, Robert A. Williams (Dorothy); nephews, Richard B. Williams Jr. (Janet), Jeffrey M. Williams and Robert S. Williams; nieces, Sheri L. Williams and Debra G. Williams Sawchuk (Peter). He is also survived by many great nieces, great nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, William S. Williams and Charlotte Bader Williams; brothers, Herbert, Richard B., Donald E. and Gerald O. Williams.
Stanley was born in Stamford, Conn and grew up in Albany. He served in the US Navy during World War II aboard the USS Hopi during operations in Salerno and Anzio. He also served on the USS Vulcan. After the war he worked as a longshoreman in the Port of Albany and then retired from the US Postal Service. Stan was an avid fisherman and loved his camp in the Adirondacks.
Memorial contributions in Stanley's name may be made to the VA Hospital or the Disabled Vets Org. There will be no memorial services but a celebration of life will take place for family in the Adirondacks in August.
