William T. Jackson

TROY – William Theodore "Bill" Jackson, 82, of Troy, beloved husband of 46 years to Frances Dobson Jackson, entered into eternal life on December 24, 2008 at Samaritan Hospital. Born in Port Henry, NY, he was the son of the late William Marshall Jackson and Margaretta Olevia Johnson Jackson. Bill attended Troy public schools and enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving 15 years as Seaman 1st Class during World War II. He served in the Veteran's Administration at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany and worked in Engineering Services for 17 years. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #8758, and the U.S. Navy CEC/Seabees Historical Foundation. Bill is the devoted father of Cheryl D. Jackson-Middleton; grandfather of Eric R. Jackson and Jerry J. Outcalt; brother of Mary E. Fitch, the late Charlotte Wilson and Katherine and Lillian Jackson; great-grandfather of Maila M., Yasmiere J. and Amaya J. Outcalt; stepfather of Wilbur "Tinker" (Joanne) Carter, Ronald K. (Bertha) Carter and Joyce (Charles) Goodbee. Also surviving is a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the Fifth Avenue A.M.E. Zion Church, corner of 103rd Street and 5th Avenue, Troy with the Rev. Robert E. Linder officiating. Calling hours will precede the service from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery, Troy.
