COLONIE - William "Bill" Tibbitts, 60, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2006 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital after a courageous battle with kidney cancer.
Bill was born on May 6, 1946 in Albany and is the son of Marian E. Ristau Tibbitts of East Greenbush and the late William H. Tibbitts, Jr.
Bill was a co-owner of Hi-Tech Automotive in Rensselaer for 16 years before retiring in May of this year. Prior to that he worked as a service manager at the Musiker Nissan dealership in East Greenbush and at other various dealerships in the area. He was a retired member of the Albany Rods and Kustoms, Retreads Motorcycle Club, Gold Wing Motorcycle Club and the Hog Group. Bill enjoyed camping, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his grandson, Tyler.

In addition to his mother, Bill is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Mary E. Dollar Tibbitts; his children, Sharon (Phil) White of Guilderland and Gary (Lisa) Tibbitts of Colonie; his grandson, Tyler Tibbitts; his step grandchildren, Pamalla and PJ White; his sisters, Marilyn (Michael) Kochan of Zephyr Hills, FL and Kathy (Ted) Shufelt of Watervliet; and his special cousin-like a brother, Bob Ristau of Albany. Also several nieces, nephews and other cousins survive.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155 – South of Central Ave.) then to St. Clare's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
