William Theodore Tiernan, Jr.

It's with a heavy heart and great sadness to hand William T. Tiernan, Jr. , born, December 6, 1931, over to the angels, on Sunday, January 29, 2017. An Albany native, Bill was born to the late Jesse Mae Tiernan, nee: Moore, and William T. Tiernan, Sr., and was the devoted husband to the late Judith Ann Tiernan, nee: Davies.
Bill was a man of great faith. He was kind, gentle, hardworking, honest, loyal, and humorous. Bill was a veteran serving the Navy during the Korean War. He was an engineer, retired from NYS Dept of OGS. He had a special connection with everyone he met, a special love for the elderly, children and animals, as well with nature, and life itself.
He was an amazing and loving father to: Sandy Tiernan Menzer, (the late) Kim Tiernan Patrick, and Kevin Tiernan. He is also survived by his brother: Peter C. Tiernan; three grandchildren: Shaun Menzer, Todd, and Amy Patrick; three great grandchildren: Tyler Menzer, Tyler, and Finnegan Patrick; and nephews: Timothy, and Jeffrey Tiernan.
In addition to his parents, wife, and daughter, Bill is predeceased by his brothers: Michael, and John Tiernan.
A service will be held in his memory at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, Colonie Chapel, on Friday February 3, 2017, at 1:00 pm. The family welcomes public to calling hours before the service from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The burial will take place following services at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
