Troy- Willie C. Martin was called by god to eternal rest on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Evergreen Commons Nursing Home in East Greenbush, NY.
Born in Myrtle Beach, SC on June 4, 1939. He was the son of the late John and Allene Martin. Willie had worked for the Troy Police Dept. and the Albany International Corp. He retired from Albany International Corp. after years of dedicated service. A devoted Mason, he was a member of Mt. Moriah Lodge #25, where he served as a Past Master and the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #75. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ida Lee Martin, his sisters; Shirley Ranken and Peggy Martin-Crenshaw, and his brother, MacArthur Martin. He is survived by his children; Anthony C. Martin, Jaqulyne Davis, Verna Norwood, Colin (Elba) Martin, Eric Tunstall, and Tosha White. He will also be remembered by Clinton and Jason Norwood as a father figure, as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 31, 2014 at 8:30-10:00am, at Bethel Baptist Church, 2165 5th Ave, Troy, NY. Mt. Moriah Lodge #25 members will assemble at 8:30am for a Masonic Ceremony. A memorial service will be held immediately following calling hours, officiated by the Rev. Jackie Robinson.
