Willie Mae Robinson

ALBANY - Willie Mae Robinson, 105, passed away peacefully October 13, 2014 at St. Peter's Hospital. She was born January 20, 1909 in Opelika, Al; the youngest of nine children born to Melissa Jackson and Fred Richardson.

Ms. Robinson moved to Rome, NY in 1945 and later relocated to Albany, NY in 1954. Willie Mae was a hard-working prideful woman that valued family foremost. Being a seamstress was one of her many talents, allowing her to work numerous years for Roxy's Cleaners and Mae the Tailor. Embracing her faith, she was a member of Union Missionary Baptist Church for more than 50 years, where she served as a Missionary, Usher Board President, Kitchen Committee and Senior Choir Member.

Willie Mae leaves 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-great –grandchild; a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She cherished her relationships with her nieces Suzy Fowler, Myra Pinkette and Ernesteen Cotton, all of Miami, FL; close friend Jerrie Johnson of Albany , beloved granddaughter Wilhemina (Niecy) Coles and her dedicated loving great-granddaughter Lakeya Link. Predeceased by her daughters Margaret Herring, Pearlie Mae Evans and Rev. Shirley Ann Freeman; her grandchildren Tommy Davis and Brenda Moore.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 from 11:00 am to 12:00 am at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 3 Morton Avenue, Albany; funeral services to follow at noon. Interment in Graceland Cemetery, 680 Delaware Avenue, Albany, New York.
