COLONIE- Wilma C. Marhafer, 87, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.
Wilma was born in Mechanicville, NY on August 3, 1930 to the late Harry and Eudora Rose. She was a loving mother and raised five children in Colonie, NY. Wilma had many different careers in her life including, 30 years at Veeder's restaurant, 14 years at NYS Dept. of Tax and Finance as a stenographer, and she retired from G.E. in Colonie, as a manager with 14 years of service. She was a member and president of the neighborhood watch in Schenectady for over 10 years. Wilma will be remembered for her love of ballroom dancing, knitting, and crocheting. Her passion in life was her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her son, Charles E. Marhafer Jr., and her siblings, Irene Johnson, Emma Geer, Hazel Potts, Monica Martin, Harry Rose, and Bryan Rose.
She is survived by her children, Guy Marhafer, Charlessa Hughes, Rhena MacDonald, and Kelly (James) Leggiero, her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Marhafer, her grandchildren, Bobby, Tammy, Bill, Zac, Becky, Dylan, Brandi, Khai, Meqala, Ricky, Krystal, and Jillian, 11 great-grandchildren, her sister, Helen Darrow, and a host of family and friends.
Wilma's family wishes to express their gratitude to Community Hospice of Saratoga County, especially Nicole and Rosalie for their compassionate and loving care.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 12:00pm-3:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 10:00am. Burial will be held at Hudson View Cemetery, Mechanicville, NY.
