Albany~ Wilton Alwin Mitchell was born on April 5, 1939 in Berbice, Guyanna, S.A. He was the oldest of four living children from the union of Wilton Mitchell and Enid Roberts. Wilton "Willie" immigrated to the US in 1952 at the age of 13. He graduated from DeWitt Clinton H.S. He also attended RCA trade school.
Willie loved to work! He was a Traffic Manager in the manufacturing industries for over 40 years. After retiring in 2005, he continued to work. He became a Certified Security Guard, a Greeter at Walmart and finally a production worker for Trans World Entertainment.
Willie had a passion for cars, westerns, "old school" music and TV shows from past decades. His love of sports, was known by everyone who knew him. He was a avid Mets, Jets and Knicks fan. Willie's daily purchase of Lottery tickets was his way of supporting NYS education, but he actually donated to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) on a regular basis.
Willie is at rest with his son Garnet, grandson Randall and brother's Jack and Glen.
He leaves his "sweetie love" memories with his loving and faithful wife Joan Mitchell. Daughters; Monique, Tanya, Seneka, and Sybil. Five grandchildren; Dominique, Angelique, Joshua, Kylah, and Bobby. Five great-grandchildren; Maleah, Maria, Aubrey, Layla, and Jaiden; Sons-in-law Derek Lemon, Michael Smith and Shawn Wallace; Siblings Aubrey (Kim), Pam (Roland), Jacqueline (Larry), Dwayne. A host of loving nieces, nephew, and friends
