Winifred M. Cassarino

Colonie- Winifred M. Cassarino, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 5, 2017 surrounded by family. She was born in Ludlow, MA to the late Reginald and Frances Brooks.

Winnie worked for Stanley Home Products as a demonstrator for 15 years and later retired from the New York State Department of OGS after over 15 years of service as an executive secretary. She volunteered with UNICEF, participated in Women in State Government, and was a member of the Thunder Road Seniors. She enjoyed Greek dancing and traveling abroad. Winnie was a communicant of Christ Our Light Catholic Church in Loudonville.

She was predeceased by her husband, Emanuel J. Cassarino in 1986 as well as her brother Gilbert Brooks and a grandson James Bartoli.

Winnie is survived by her children, Alan J. (Tina) Cassarino and Lynn M. (Bruce) Laraway; grandchild, Jennifer Bartoli; step-grandchildren, Matthew and Christine Laraway; siblings, Rita (Robert) Ratcliffe and Shirley (Albert) Pettalino; sister-in-law, Lee Brooks; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 5pm-7pm at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am on Thursday at the funeral home. Entombent will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
