COLONIE- Wrenn D. Sherwood, 79, of Colonie, entered into eternal rest on Thursday September 14, 2006 at St. Peters Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Syracuse, KS and was the son of the late Ross and Julia Sherwood.
Wrenn served in the US Army from 1948 to 1953. He was an installer/repairman for New York Telephone Company for forty years, retiring in 1984. He was awarded the Vail Medal for Heroism from New York Telephone Company after saving the life of a colleague.
Wrenn was a former boy scout master of Troop 45 and a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and CWA Local 118 . He was a longtime active communicant and dedicated volunteer of St. Clare's Church where he assisted in several capacities. He was a lector and a member of the church folk group and Resurrection choir. Wrenn was an associate of the Sisters of Mercy.
He is survived by his beloved wife of forty four years, Joan Dolan Sherwood. He is the devoted father of Michael (Tricia) Sherwood, Thomas (Eveline) Sherwood, Kristina (John) Rogers, Sandra Sherwood (Jeanette Rolon) and the late Connie Sherwood. He is the cherished grandfather of Wrenn, Ken, Trina, Brian, Jason, Lindsey, Aidan and Brandon.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 9:00 at the Church of St. Clare where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 at St. Clare's Church. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
