COLONIE – Yura Lewtschenko, 64, of Colonie, passed away on Friday January 7, 2011 at his residence, after battling cancer.
He was born October 2, 1946 in Hamburg, Germany to the late Andre' Lewtschenko and Anna Federow. Yura migrated to the United States as a young toddler. He was a 1965 graduate of Philip Schuyler High School and attended Hudson Valley Community College. He was a reservist with the US Army Hospital Unit. He recently retired from CSX transportation in Selkirk. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Yura is survived by his wife, Jean, his children, Janine and Mark Lewtschenko; his siblings, Nina Fedorow and Nickolay Federow. He is the brother of the late Andrew Lewtschenko. Yura is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 8 nieces and nephews.
Services were held at the Russian Orthodox Church in Colonie.
Interment will be in Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Jordanville, NY.
